What is Relaxation Massage?

 

Relaxation massage uses five basic massage movements to increase circulation and remove toxins from the muscles. Always working towards the heart, the massage therapist incorporates these techniques into a flowing massage session that leaves the patient physically and emotionally relaxed.

 

What techniques are used?


Relaxation massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are

·        Effleurage (sliding or gliding),

·        Petrissage (kneading to release toxins from the muscles by lifting, separating, and rolling them),

·        Percussion (rhythmic tapping),

·        Friction (cross fiber)

·        Vibration/shaking.

Relaxation massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving joint function and is great for circulation through out the body, flushing toxins out of problem areas
